Northwest Neighborhoods works to reduce energy usage, increase residents’ sense of environmental safety and foster social cohesion.

Home Weatherization

Home Weatherization is the process of protecting one’s home against the elements, decreasing energy consumption, and improving energy efficiency.

As part of the Resilient Cleveland initiative, DSCDO is proud to recommend the CHN Housing Partners (CHN) Home Weatherization Program to neighborhood residents. Homeowners and renters may be eligible to receive the following free services:

• Home insulation
• Energy-efficient appliances
• Light bulbs
• New furnace
• New hot water tank

Homeowners and renters alike can expect to save up to 30% on their monthly utility bills.

Apply for the Home Weatherization program with CHN. For questions, or to be mailed a CHN application, please call the DSCDO offices at 216.961.4242 x223.

If your household income exceeds the CHN guidelines, some utility providers offer energy audit and rebate programs, such as Dominion Energy Ohio’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program.

Cleveland EcoVillage

The EcoVillage is a community response to urban sprawl, disinvestment and environmental degradation. Using sustainability and transit-oriented development as a planning strategy, the EcoVillage community seeks to retain and support residents in the urban core.

DSCDO, partners and residents have implemented projects in four core areas: green building and affordable housing, transportation infrastructure, greenspace and local food, and community involvement.

EcoVillage is centered around the West 65th-Lorain Avenue RTA Rapid Station. Learn more.
